w/ Live-Culture Fermentation!
Free Class on Saturday, September 30th – 1:00-2:00pm
Cook’s Natural Market
Class Description: Farmer & Food Fermenting Fanatic, Cat Swenson, shares her enthusiasm for healthful & nutrient-dense fermented foods in this entertaining demonstration. Learn about the care and feeding of your own amazing microbiome (your personal eco-system) with prebiotic & probiotic foods. Forget the hot & sweaty “canning” of your fresh garden veggies…try instead the ancient art of pickling food using probiotic live-cultures & fermentation to make healthy probiotic pickles, like kraut & sour dill pickles. Enjoy sampling a variety of live-culture pickles while learning how to make your own.
Meet the Presenters:
Cat & John Swenson are the owners of Great Ferments and create a line of fresh fermented veggies that are sold at local health food stores & farmers markets. They live on their farm in Winslow Arkansas, where they grow veggies and raise pastured lamb using old-fashioned methods in harmony with nature.
Cat & John are also the Chapter Leaders for the non-profit Nourishing Traditions NWA group (the local chapter of the Weston A Price Foundation) and teach a variety of classes on food, farming and nutrition.
